So many of us are wondering how to find security, especially when we hear what’s happening with gun violence seeming to be so pervasive in our country.
Staying focused on the news may seem almost instinctual, like knowing more will help you stay safe, but learning more details about what has happened will likely leave you feeling worse and keep your brain stuck in alarm-mode– the opposite of feeling secure.
Truthfully, the security you’re longing for can’t come from the world around us– it has to come from a conscious alignment with your Higher Source.
So how do you connect to a Higher Source or Well-being when you are in a state of fear and dread?
It takes skillful choices and actions to help you begin to guide your compass back to a place of peace and calm. Once you know that security is what you really want, you have to guide your attention that way.
One of the best things you can do to point your compass towards peace and connect to a feeling of security and well-being is to start your day with a quiet morning practice, including any of these methods for calming your nervous system:
- journaling about your feelings and what you are seeking
- conscious breathing
- making a list of what is going well in your life (appreciation/gratitude practice).
There are many ways to tap into this feeling of Well-being, as you can see! There are even more than this list, of course, but these are things I do regularly and that I know help me. 🙂
